Latch On Listen In: Breastfeeding Anywhere on the best and worst of public nursing rooms podcast with bymomsformoms
I was very privileged to have been asked to record a podcast with bymomsformoms, which is a wonderful site dedicated to helping moms from maternity on. I spoke with Lucy Fortin on June 25th, 2008 and she wanted to know the best and worst of nursing rooms and breastfeeding in public. Here's the article:
ByMomsForMoms interviewed Lisa DeGroot, blogger for
breastfeedinganywhere.com
for the latest in our Latch on Listen In series. Her site is a database of public nursing rooms across the U.S. and Canada. Lisa just launched it in October 2008, and has already collected information about several hundred places where nursing moms can take refuge to feed or pump. What was most interesting about my interview with Lisa, is that she herself has no problem nursing at a table in a restaurant, or sitting on a park bench. What inspired her to develop this Web site was the number of other moms in her life who were uncomfortable with public breastfeeding and always on the lookout for private, quiet places to nurse. Lisa's closing comment to me when I asked where she saw her favorite nursing room? She hasn't yet found one that's up to her standards. Listen to the
